Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Prep Cook to join our culinary team at our Gulf Breeze, FL location. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in preparing high-quality ingredients and maintaining efficient kitchen operations while staying calm and composed during rush periods. This role requires a strong understanding of food safety practices, proficiency with kitchen equipment, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. The Prep Cook must maintain steady performance whether it's a quiet weekday or a weekend-level rush, and be physically capable of lifting 160 lb kegs and handling other demanding tasks to ensure smooth kitchen operations and exceptional dining experiences for our guests.
Key Responsibilities

  • Wash, peel, chop, and slice vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients for meal preparation with consistent speed and accuracy
  • Maintain composure and efficiency during unexpected rushes, even on typically slower days
  • Measure and mix ingredients accurately according to recipes or provided instructions, maintaining quality even when orders stack up
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen workspace, including proper storage of food items
  • Strictly adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure hygienic food handling
  • Wash and maintain all BOH dishes, cookware, and kitchen equipment
  • Assist FOH with dishwashing when time permits and vice versa
  • Assist in preparing catering orders as needed
  • Support kitchen operations during meal service by efficiently handling cooking and prep tasks without getting overwhelmed
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as knives, mixers, ovens, and grills safely and effectively
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations
  • Unload and organize delivery trucks, ensuring proper storage of supplies
  • Perform back-of-house (BOH) cleaning tasks, including sanitizing surfaces and equipment
  • Switch out kegs (up to 160 lbs) as needed for beverage service
  • Take out trash once it has been bagged and properly disposed of
  • Manage waste disposal and maintain cleanliness of disposal areas
  • Independently manage all back-of-house operations when required, ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly
  • Must be 21 years old.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a restaurant or catering environment is preferred but not required
  • Ability to stay calm and maintain quality during rush periods without becoming overwhelmed—confidence in handling sudden busy periods is essential
  • Capability to work at a fast pace while maintaining accuracy and food quality standards
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food handling
  • Familiarity with cooking techniques and kitchen equipment is a plus
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
  • Physical ability to lift and move 160 lb kegs and perform other demanding tasks
  • Capability to work independently in the back-of-house, managing all necessary tasks
  • Mental resilience to handle days that unexpectedly shift from slow to weekend-level busy
  • Stamina to stand for extended periods and handle physical demands of kitchen work
